About Tibotec
Tibotec is a pharmaceutical research and development company. Our mission is to be a world leader in the discovery and development of innovative HIV/AIDS drugs and superior anti-infectives for diseases of high unmet medical need.
The original mission of Tibotec was the discovery of new drug candidates in the field of infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS. A unique and powerful cell-based HIV drug discovery platform was developed that enabled the screening of thousands of chemical compounds for activity against both HIV and cellular toxicity. In 1995, Virco was established as a spin-off to improve the management of HIV/AIDS with innovative, new molecular diagnostic tools for HIV resistance testing that would better inform the treatment decisions made by physicians. In April 2002, Tibotec and Virco were acquired by Johnson & Johnson. Tibotec Therapeutics, a division of Ortho Biotech Products, L.P., will be responsible for commercializing the antiretroviral products in the United States. Tibotec, a division of Janssen-Cilag, will be responsible for their commercialization in Europe. Tibotec's main research laboratories are located in Mechelen, Belgium, with offices in Ireland and an operating subsidiary in the USA. About Virco
Virco is an established research-driven biotechnology company based in Mechelen (Belgium) with US offices in Raritan (New Jersey) and Durham (North Carolina).
